Another year of Fashion Board has come and gone, and oh, what a year it was! The end of the school year means many things: endings, new beginnings, great memories and sad goodbyes. For Fashion Board, it means electing officers for our Executive Board. Our members voted last week after hearing each of the girls running give a speech. It was a very close race, so close we had to conduct a revote for one of the positions. After tallying up each and every vote, we have our new Executive Board for 2014-2015 and we could not be happier with the group of girls that have been chosen to lead our organization. This year is all about fresh faces, new ideas and a lot of dedication.
We thought it would be fun to introduce you to each of our officers before fall comes around. Get to know us, learn a little bit about us before you join us for another amazing year. Here's who you'll be working with this year:
Jessica Kiraly, President:
Jessica is a senior at USC majoring in retail management. She's from Fairfax, Virginia, and this is her 4th year on our executive board. She is one of few who are able to be a freshman and hold an officer position, and her years of experience will definitely help her as she sets out to lead our organization. She started as the Executive Assistant and then was the Secretary for the past two years.Last summer she was a jewelry intern for Krupp Group, a public relations firm in New York City. This summer she has landed an internship with ELLE Magazine as their jewelry intern. Working our USC Fashion Week has given her first hand experience that has helped her in the fashion industry.
Fashion Board has made such an impact on her life the past three years and she is excited to be able to play a part in doing that for the other members. Jessica's biggest goal for the year is to incorporate general members in planning events overall. She wants to make more options available to them so that they can get more involved and really get a feel for what Fashion Board is all about and what goes on behind the scenes.
As president, Jessica will lead meetings, direct USC Fashion Week and, most importantly, make sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently at all times. She keeps us all in line and has never met a Google Doc she couldn't handle!

Alana Fuscardo, Director of Public Relations
I'm Alana and I'm a senior public relations major and fashion merchandising minor. I'm from Weirton, West Virginia, and am the only other returning Executive Board member. Last year I served as the co-head of PR, and was a general member my sophomore year.
Last summer I was a sales intern for Badgley Mischka in New York City and will return to begin my 9th internship with People's Revolution. I found my first internship through Fashion Board two years ago and have been going nonstop ever since. I also work for the menswear app Dash Hudson, have my own blog and will be the 2014-2015 Style Editor of Garnet & Black, our campus magazine.
Without Fashion Board, I never would have been able to get the experience I needed in fashion, writing and PR. I want members to really take advantage of the opportunities the organization has to offer whether it's being a guest writer on the blog to boost your writing portfolio or learning how to handle a quick change backstage.
As Director of Public Relations, I handle all social media and online outlets, like this blog! I write all of the press releases and get them out to the designated media. My main goal is to generate as much awareness for the organization as possible.

She is a sister of Delta Delta Delta, a member of NSCS and Alpha Lambda Delta and is a Garnet & Black contributor. Morgan is also apart of a professional dance company in Columbia called Unbound.
She is so excited to be an officer on executive board this year and is looking forward to planning events that will broaden the horizons of the organization. She said she has no doubt that this group will be a force of creativity, and can't wait to see where the year brings us.
As Director of Programming, Morgan will plan the meetings and what goes on during them. She has fun ideas to get the members involved such as DIY and style swap nights to internship and study abroad panels.

Rilinda Harris, Director of Community Outreach
Rilinda is a sophomore retail management major, Spanish minor from Greenville, South Carolina. She just joined Fashion Board this spring, but immediately fell in love with the concept and potential of the organization. She volunteered during USC Fashion Week by helping style hair and showing guests to their seats.
This summer she will continue to work at Pacsun as a sales associate. During her short time at USC, she has already gotten involved with various other organizations such as EcoReps, Hall Government, MAPP, AAAS + PANASA. With all of these, she tries to either integrate fashion into their program or learn a skill that will prepare her for a career in retail. She was also a designer for our Reclaimed Runway show with the EcoReps group.
Along with community outreach, she hopes to be able to get guest speakers for the meetings that will teach new skills to our members, along with opening their eyes to all possible careers when it comes to the fashion industry. She wants this year to be productive and progressive.
As Director of Community Outreach, Rilinda's goal is to get Fashion Board to be known for promoting beauty on the outside as well as the inside. She wants members to be able to bond over better the community, so that while bettering the community we are also building a strong bond within the organization.

Lindsay Riggins, Treasurer
Lindsay is a sophomore fashion merchandising major from Charlotte, North Carolina. She was an active general member last year. Her biggest contribution to the organization was her help with USC Fashion Week where she styled and dressed models backstage.
This summer she will be working at First Financial Resources in Charlotte. Her positive attitude and determination landed her a spot on our executive board this year. She is hard working and that is why she has been chosen to be our Coordinator for our Student Designer Showcase for USC Fashion Week. This means she will be in charge of contacting and maintaining a relationship with the student designers for the year.
She hopes to see Fashion Board expand beyond the Columbia area, while still being very involved locally, into a bigger fashion scene. Lindsay wants to get as much exposure for the organization as possible and hopes to see it continue to grow in the coming years. She wants to learn as much as she can while being involved with Fashion Board and in turn teach others
As Treasurer, Lindsay will handle all funding and money flow in and out of the organization. She will maintain our budget and keep our spending habits in check. She also is in charge of the Fashion Board bulletin board in the Coliseum and will keep it updated on our latest events.

She is hopeful for what this new year will bring for Fashion Board with all of the fresh, creative minds that have joined the executive board, and the organization as a whole. She wants to gain as much experience as she can and learn new skills along the way to help her prepare for graduation and finding a career in the real world.
