USC Fashion Week 2014 Schedule of Events

Hey Fashionistas! It's that time of year again. We have seen it in New York, London, Milan, and Paris and now its here at the University of South Carolina. Get ready for USC Fashion Week 2014, read down below for the full lineup.

Monday, March 31^st: Greene Street Kick-Off and Humane Society Doggie Fashion Show, Davis Field 

• Fashion Board will hold our kick off event on Greene Street from 11am to 2pm. Along with a DJ playing, Panera Bread will be there handing out food. T-shirts and tickets for our two runway shows will be available for sale! 

• Later that evening, we will host our Third Annual Doggie Fashion Show at 5pm. The show will take place on Davis Field between Russell House and the Thomas Cooper Library. We are excited to announce that we are working with the Humane Society for the second year in a row. At the Doggie Fashion Show, 16 adoptable dogs will strut down the runway wearing tutus and bowties. Come out early to play with the dogs and participate in a puppy scavenger hunt. If you have your own dog, bring it to the show because the crowd's favorite dog+owner couple will win a gift basket full of dog treats, toys and food donated by the Humane Society.

Tuesday, April 1^st: Symposium at the School of Public Health at 7pm.

• One of the main goals of Fashion Board is to educate students about the fashion industry, and we are holding the Symposium to promote just that. A panel of professionals within the industry will be speaking and answering questions. Come out on Tuesday to this free event and learn anything and everything about fashion.

• The panel includes:
• Rip Scott, who helped build ATLA GARCIA apparel brand, which is the only living wage apparel company in developing worlds. 
• Debbie McDaniels, USC alumnus, is the owner/founder of Revente boutique. 
• Jeff Plotner is the founder of Brackish brand bow ties. These bowties are made from real animal feathers (turkey, roosters, etc.) and every single feather is hand selected. No Brackish bow tie is exactly alike and they can be found for purchase at Columbia's favorite menswear retailer, Britton's.

• The Symposium Moderator is Anne Postic. Anne Wolfe Postic is a freelance writer living in Columbia. She covers locally owned shops, restaurants, events, and art on her blog, theshoptart.com. She was also the moderator for last year’s symposium. Come out and see what she has to say this year!

Wednesday, April 2^nd: Student Designer Showcase, 701 Whaley at 7pm.

• This is the third annual Student Designer Showcase. The show features talented USC student designers showing off their own exciting and unique collections. Student vendor tables will also be featured in the style lounge. Come out and support your fellow students. Also, the Carolina Gentlemen (USC’s male acapella group) will provide some more entertainment by performing during the judge’s deliberation. This is a not a night to miss out on.

• Mae Ann Webb, Miss South Carolina United States, will host the Student Designer Showcase. She is a student at USC and is a USC Coquette.

• The judges include:
• Yoanna House is the winner of America's Next Top Model Cycle 2. We are so excited to have her with us this week and to have her share her knowledge of the industry with us.
• Gwen Rawls, owner of Gwen Rawls Shoes on Forest Drive. She imports all of her shoes directly from Milan. (Actually, she is currently in Milan right now buying inventory for the upcoming seasons)
• Debbie McDaniels, a USC alumnus, is the owner/founder of Revente boutique. 

• The featured Student Designer is last year’s winner, Paul Williams. This year for his line he has chosen to focus on statement pieces including vests and neck wear. 

Thursday, April 3^rd: Finale Show, 701 Whaley at 7pm. 

• Fashion Board will hold its 6^th Annual Sponsored Finale Show. This show features looks from Columbia’s top retailers. A silent auction will be held and scholarships will be awarded to Fashion Board members. Come to the Finale Show and help us end USCFW with a bang!

• Yoanna House will be our mistress of ceremonies for the evening.

You can start to purchase pre-sale tickets at the Greene Street Kickoff on Monday, March 31^st. Tickets for the Student Designer Showcase are $5.00 (pre-sale) and $7.00 (at the door). For the Finale Show, tickets are $7.00 (pre-sale) and $10.00 (at the door). You can buy a combo ticket for $10.00 and get into both shows.
