What's in Your Bag?

Hi everyone!

Today we are giving you an inside look into a girl's most prized possession: her bag.

My name is Morgan and as I have previously mentioned I am the Vice President of Publications for Fashion Board. I have an infatuation with all types of bags and have quite a collection I have accumulated over the past few years. Here, for your viewing pleasure is a glimpse of what we girl's find to be our most valued must-haves!

Being an intern requires a big bag in most cases. Though I have a variety of bags I normally gravitate towards cross-body bags instead of totes. I was lucky enough to get a brand new Rebecca Minkoff tote that I am in love with.

 M.A.B. Tote
I can fit a circus in my tote!
Contents:
1. Badge- I could not survive without my badge which lets me in anywhere and everywhere throughout the building!
2. My daily intern folder with all of my essential intern information
3. My beautiful red Levenger portfolio which holds a legal pad, time sheets and business cards
1. Receipt folder- The newest edition to my tote is this awesome receipt folder I won from the company Knock Knock!
2. Luna Bar- I eat one of these every day in between breakfast and lunch to keep me going
3. Headphones- this is my must-have essential for the office. I sit in an office with two other interns so it's nice to turn on Spotify and get in the zone.
4. Always have your writing utensils!

1. Cosmetic bag- Found this Kate Spade cosmetic bag on sale a few weeks ago and had to get it!
2. Yes calming cucumber makeup wipes are perfect for after work
3. Hand Sanitizer which is needed since I am currently meeting new people!
4. Kleenex
5. My new L'oreal lipstick, Mac lipgloss, Coola sunscreen (Plus: does not smell like sunscreen it smells like cucumbers!)

Brittany- President

For my internship with Hunter Dixon I am always doing different things so my Michael Kors tote fits everything I need! Everyday I usually have my laptop in case I have to work on spreadsheets for the company or make labels and things like that. I also keep a notebook because I get sent on a lot of errands and I have to write down the places I'm going and the people I will be talking to. Along with my notepad I have several pens and pencils, I started with just two but some how have accumulated like ten! The smaller essentials that can be found in my purse are: headphones for the subway rides, sunglasses for running errands, hand sanitizer, lotion and lipsticks. You never know when you need to put on a red lip for the after-work outing. The most important item in my bag would have to be my phone. It is my life! If I get sent to some crazy spot in China town, my GPS is always helpful and I am always avaialbe if my bosses need me to run an extra errand.  Having music on my phone is a necessity especially after a long day of work, which really comes in handy when I’m taking the subway home. So…what’s in your bag?

Kerry- VP of Programming

My bag of the moment is a dark blue Italian genuine leather hobo. I love it because it is huge, lets face it, every fashionista on the go needs a large bag especially in New York City. In my bag I carry my Chloe sunglasses which make me feel extra fabulous trailing through the city streets in the grueling 90 degree weather. Next, I have The Fashion Book which is basically an encyclopedia of designers, models, artists, etc. This book is a necessity for my long commute from Connecticut into the city.

I could not live without my unlimited subway pass which I would pretty much die if I didn't have. An interns life is incomplete without that subway pass. Then I have some make-up including black liquid eyeliner (the best), a Josie Maran rosey color stick and illuminizer (both gifts from Interview), and my all over mineral glow. Those are my necessities for being an intern in the city! Xx

Jessica- Secretary

Like Kerry mentioned, having a giant tote in the city is a must-have. I do not leave my FIT dorm (where I am staying for the summer) without my:
1. iPhone charger- a must-have because *Hopstop drains your battery!
(*Hopstop is an App that provides times for local transit systems and locations all over NYC)
2. Notebook along with several pens
3. Sunnies for when I'm out running errands on a beautiful New York summer day
4. Chapstick
5. Business cards- these come in handy tremendously because you never know who you will meet!
6. Umbrella-it doesn’t matter if the forecast shows rain or clear skies, you can never know with New York

Oh and probably the weirdest thing you will find in my bag? The occasional dog treat. The office dog loves me now.

Anna- VP of Public Relations

I am beyond obsessed with my Tory Burch Amanda crossbody bag. It goes with me everywhere. It may be on the smaller side but it’s a great everyday purse that is still big enough to fit all of my essentials. You can always expect me to have some sort of dark red lipstick in any of the bags I carry. Yes, I admit that four different lipsticks in one tiny purse may be excessive, but it’s better to be safe than sorry right? Another thing that is crucial to have in my purse this summer are my left over Starbucks gift cards. Since the cards can’t be used on campus (not a good quality, USC) I’ve accumulated tons of money for caffeine and it’s been wonderful. Nothing better than whipping out a gift card instead of having to use your own money. Other than those two things, lately you can usually expect me to have my internship bosses’ business cards to give out, a tube of mascara, maybe a couple of dollars (currently living the broke college student life) and of course a snack. Today’s snack was a Fruit Roll-Up, which I didn’t have time to eat earlier.

Courtney- Executive Assistant

My go-to bag is always the vintage Nifty Thrifty black and tan suede envelope purse. The black and tan combo makes it work with practically any color and it is the perfect size to fit all of my essentials! The essentials I cannot live without are: my wallet, of course, it is always safe to have some money on hand, my Ray Bans sunnies for hot summer days, an Emi Jay hair tie in case my hair is not cooperating, oil wipes for when I have some unwanted glisten and my nude lipstick to dress up my look on short notice.

Alana- VP of Public Relations

The basic necessities of a New York summer fashion intern are all basically the same. As Anna previously mentioned, having four lipsticks at once seems excessive, but I too am faulty of this. My one must-have is lipstick. In can completely transform a look from work appropriate to a night out on the town! The other essentials inside my bag include:
1. Mini emergency kit (has everything a girl could ever need inside!)
2. Hand Sanitizer (my other must-have because after riding the subway system I most definitely need to wash my hands.)
3. Tide-to-go
4. Water bottle (Staying hydrated in the city is imperative when you are running around all day!)

We hope everyone has enjoyed a sneak peak into our bags and look for more posts featuring our members and their summer adventures!

Fashionably,

The Executive Fashion Board

  1. The others have also been hand me downs, which was also a plus, but I found this one (on St. George customised carrier bags Garage Sale) for a steal of a deal! I couldn't resist and it look adorable in our small kitchen!
